More About Moosehead Lake Ice Fishing
What Can You Catch on Moosehead Lake?
Moosehead Lake is Maine’s largest lake and one of the state’s best coldwater fisheries, which makes it a great place to target lake trout, brook trout, and landlocked salmon through the ice. Guided trips are built around current conditions, local knowledge, and the kind of fishing experience you want. Whether you are hoping to jig for togue in deeper water, or spend the day learning more about Moosehead’s winter fishery with a Registered Maine Guide, we will customize your ice fishing trip.
What’s Included in Your Ice Fishing Trip?
Every trip is designed to keep the day simple, comfortable, and beginner friendly, and includes
- A Registered Maine Ice Fishing Guide
- A warm wood-heated fish house
- All fishing gear and bait
- Hot chocolate, coffee, water, and soft drinks
- Lunch and snacks on request (included)
- Transportation by snowmobile or vehicle, depending on location
All ages and skill levels are welcome, and private trips make it easy to tailor the day to your group.
Trip Structure on Moosehead Lake
Our Ice fishing season runs December 20 through March 31. The recommended start time is 8:00 AM, and trips can last up to 8 hours, although custom start times are available. Trips depart from Northwoods Outfitters in Greenville, and every outing is private, so the day can be shaped around your interests, group size, and experience level.
Moosehead lake opens to ice fishing Jan 1, however we start our season on other local lakes.
