Below is a partial list of local hiking tours as part of our guides “guides best choice” for hikes that they enjoy leading into the Maine wilderness. These 4 hikes vary in difficulty from easiest to strenuous. When you call for your reservation you will have the opportunity to discuss your desires and ability level to find a hike that best suited for you. Little Moose Mountain (Little Squaw Mountain)
Little Moose Mountain, formerly known as Little Squaw, is an easily accessible hike.  Enjoy a picnic provided by your guide at Little Moose Pond where you will find great views of the cliffs.  This hike is approximately ?? miles long with an easy level of difficulty.  This guided hike is perfect for beginner hikers and families looking to sample a Northern Maine mountain.

Gulf Hagas
Gulf Hagas is commonly known as the Grand Canyon of the East.  Bordered by the Appalachian Trail, this 8-mile loop trail follows the Pleasant River as it flows through a fabulously scenic slate gorge.  Dotted with countless views of waterfalls and cliffs over 100 feet high, the rugged geology and natural features is one hike you have to see to believe.

White Cap – 3644ft
Hike to the highest peak in the 100 Mile Wilderness section of the Appalachian trail! Rated as one of the best views in the State this hike is moderate to strenuous and has two different trails leading to small mountain stream, a lean-to, and outstanding views at its peak. Total distance is approximately 6 miles.

Barren Mountain – 3696ft
Starting your hike along Slugundy Gorge you’ll ascend to spectacular views from Barren Ledges, overlooking Onawa Lake, and then continue to an abandoned fire-tower for panoramic views that seem to go on forever. This is a strenuous hike for seasoned hikers. Approximately 11 miles round trip.



 

Mount Kineo Hike Moosehead Lake

Mount Kineo is the gem of Moosehead Lake.  Take one of our daily cruises to this stunning, jagged rock face, a striking precipice rising more than 800 feet straight up from the water.  Your trip starts in Greenville and cruises 18 miles up the lake, you will be able to see surrounding mountain ranges remote islands and other points of interest along the way.  After we arrive you can choose to explore by water or you can take a guided hike up the backside for an easy/ moderate hike to the mountain top fire tower.  Absolutely stunning views can be found along the trail and ascending the restored fire tower affords magnificent panoramic views of the whole Moosehead Lake region.  This six-hour trip includes snacks and beverages.
