Dogsledding Day Trips |
|||||||
| All trips meet at Northwoods Outfitters in Greenville, where our guides will make sure your clothing & boots are adequate. You will then be met by your guide Ashley and escorted to the kennel. These trips all begin at Lone Wolf Dogsled Kennel, 8 miles out of downtown Greenville on pristine wilderness trails leading right out of the kennel. We will provide you with trail beverages & snacks as needed and take you through our “Dogsledding 101” orientation which includes learning about the history of dog sledding, arctic exploration with trap line dog teams, safety and control of your team. You'll then head to the kennel to meet all the dogs and to help—if you’d like—in harnessing your own team. The big moment arrives as the guide launches your sled and off you go, riding or driving your own dog team on wilderness trail. Feel the excitement as your team pulls you through the snow covered trails, blanketed in the silence of nature. Around every corner the possibility seeing wildlife including the Maine Moose exists. Along the way, your guide will point out wildlife signs and sites of scenic interest for photos, provide rest stops, bathroom & beverage breaks as needed and (on full day trips) she will cook a trailside campfire lunch. Our trail system includes a variety of scenic options—hilly woodland terrain, sheltered bogs, —and trails that are both easy and challenging so be sure to let your guide know your preferences. When you arrive back at the kennel you’re welcome to help feed and water your dogs if you choose and to stop up at the hut for a hot beverage before departing. |
Ashley Simpson has been a mushing guide and racer for over 10 years. Her enthusiasm and willingness to share her passion with others enhances your trip experience. Ashley is also employed as a full time wilderness maine guide offering up close wildlife experiences and nature interpretation tours. |

For that extra special adventure be sure to ask about a nighttime dog sledding adventure. Tours leave around sunset and last 4 hours. Headlights are provided and all trips are led as guided rides. Moonlight tours add an extra-special ambiance to your dogsled ride and will leave you with memories that will last a lifetime.

ReservationsReservations must be made and confirmed in advance by phone. A 50% non-refundable deposit by credit card is required. Balance of payment can be made when you meet at Northwoods Outfitters by cash, check or credit card. (Gratuities are appreciated by the guides for a job well done.)

No special fitness or experience is needed, but please note that persons over 250 pounds may find it difficult to balance on the sleds and kids 5 & under sometimes prefer a short ride rather than a half day or more of sledding. |
